Post-divorce/break up Father's support

Fathers often struggle to maintain a positive and meaningful relationship with their children following separation and divorce.
My goal is to help fathers navigate an unfamiliar, confusing, and emotionally challenging change in life circumstances. All while maintaining and developing a strong and loving connection with their children - which can seem almost impossible in the face of the already difficult period of adjustment.
With my support, fathers in this difficult circumstance will be able to build the necessary skills to:
• Navigate a stressful and upsetting point in life with a more positive outlook
• Build upon and protect the health of their relationship with their children
• Adjust to a future they may not have foreseen or the life unplanned for
• Create and work towards specific goals to achieve with your children, based on what is personally important to you, to them - as a family together.
• Maintain and improve relationships with ‘in-laws’, schools, external agencies etc.
• Plan for outings, trips, and larger excursions that keep familial bonds close
• Introduce their own new partner – whether now, or further down the line
In many cases, fathers going through divorce do not feel that they have the knowledge or skills to positively engage with their children – especially if the kids are very young or the father is not going to be the primary caregiver going forward.
My own history as a divorced parent to 3 young children provides me with the insight to completely understand the myriad of emotions that fathers feel when circumstances make it seem as if they are no longer part of their own family - and yet they still have the desire, drive, and love to be a parent that is present and meaningfully involved in their children's lives.
In addition to a shared understanding and empathy with fathers, I am also a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA). My strategy is to support you with evidence-based approaches that work to start, maintain, and improve your relationship with your child(ren).
This is not a therapeutic service and there is no counselling involved. My support centres around the benefits that accompany the practicality of applied approaches. And that is exactly how I can help you, regardless of the current family context, and even if you are feeling disconnected and demoralised.
Contact me today for an open and honest discussion about your own needs, where you want to be in your children's lives, and how to proceed along a path that can often be difficult and confusing to traverse alone.
