16 month not walking

I feel really stuck at the moment. My second child is absolutely huge and doesn't walk. He was really reluctant to even stand up until a couple of months ago. He is able to pulll himself up but doesn't really move from there.
He had his hips checked when he was born after emergency c section.
I know kids all take different times, but he is so unlike my first, who wanted to walk with walkers/holding hands walking from 8 months whereas he just cries if you lift him up to assiit. Him walking, forces his way back to the floor. So i don't push him to walk.
I guess Im just after reassurance - - is this non interest in walking normal??

I think it’s normal but different to your first DC so maybe seems late. Unless there are any suspicions there’s a problem nothing much would be done at this age I think, because it’s within the normal range. I think DGCs GP said if there was no sign of walking they’d refer to a physio at 18 months. I think DGC must have taken this onboard as started toddling at exactly 18 months.

Id give it a few more months unless there something you are concerned about in terms of other motor skills or development. I bet now you’ve posted this, he will haul himself upright and take a few steps v soon.

It's within normal still. My second was a chunker and she didn't walk until 17 months (it was also lockdown so not a lot of walking to be done anyway)

If nothing has changed by 18 months contact your doctor.

Thanks for your replies!
He's on the 99.9 percentile, my arms will be grateful when it happens!
Good to know about the 18 month mark, thanks

Your first was an early walker so I imagine that’s skewing your opinion somewhat.

DS isn’t a big child, very average, and he started walking at 16 months. Showed no interest beforehand then one day, genuinely stood up and walked across the room. None of those first wobbly steps - just stood up and started to walk.

Every child develops at their own pace and not walking at 16 months isn’t unusual at all, so as Pp said I would give it a couple more months and then contact your HV / GP.

I have three OP. My first walked around 11 months. My second around 8 (😱). My third was 18 months when he slowly started taking steps. He is completely fine. Just a bit slow with walking. Incidentally he was also a big one!

My three children (none of them were big children) walked at 17, 18 and 19 months.

At my daughter's Christening, my friend's daughter, aged 9 months - just two months older than my daughter, was practically running around my house.
