10 month old sleep

So far tonight my ds, who's just turned 10 months has woken up crying about 10 times. Over the past few weeks it's been about 5 times a night but he used to sleep through or only be up once or twice.

I've no idea what's wrong. We've gave calpol for teething. The room is warm enough. He's had milk and food throughout the day and I sometimes give him water when he wakes in case he's thirsty.

Did anyone else's babies go through something like this? I'm worried in case he's really ill, sometimes during the day he can be non-stop moaning and I do worry in case there's something causing him pain but then he goes back to normal later on.

Another thing I thought was that, sometimes during the day, I've noticed his feet are like ice to touch even if he's had socks on. I have raynauds which sometimes makes my feet so cold at night that it takes a few hours before they've warmed up, I thought maybe he could be the same, but he's got socks on and a sleeping bag and a sleepsuit, and the room feels warmer than our bedroom so I'm not sure if it really could be that too.

Yes, this phase lasted 2 months for us. Are you giving him milk when he wakes? Night weaning dramatically helped

It is a phase.

My baby sounds very similar, she’s the same age! Her sleep’s going through a ‘better’ patch this week but recently her worse nights all seem to be related to teething! The most effective relief we’ve found is Nurofen/Calprofen, and Anbesol liquid - have you tried either of these?

I co-sleep most of the time which massively helps me, I couldn’t even tell you how often she wakes up most nights because comforting her is so quick I don’t remember in the morning!

I’ve also found my DD’s hands and feet are like ice too at the moment! Her feet are cosy in her sleeping bag (so I doubt that’s the issue with yours) but just wanted to share - it’s just suddenly come on out of nowhere for us! Again like you, our room is warm and she feels okay during the night so it’s more likely teething or separation anxiety for your baby. Sending solidarity!

To add to what @DragonbornMum said - we had to stop breastfeeding out of nowhere last week, cold turkey, due to wrecked nips (I’ve got a biter) so that obviously meant night weaning by default and her sleep - although rocky for 2 nights - does seem to have improved. As has her ability to settle quicker and easier with minimal input from me or her dad. So maybe a thought!

He doesn't take milk at night anymore, he stopped by himself when he was about 7 months old and when he's woken recently we've just been giving him sips of water or shushing him and putting our hand on his back or chest, which usually settles him quickly, just recently it hasn't lasted long unfortunately.

He's still only got 2 teeth so could be a mixture of teething and separation anxiety which he definitely has too. Thank you for the pain relief suggestions, I'll definitely have a look into those.

Just to update, we changed his last milk of the night to before his bath and put him down a little bit after his bath so he fell asleep by himself, he only had 2 short wake ups, at about 9pm then 5am. Was up at about 6.15, I can definitely tell he's a lot more well rested and happier this morning so hoping the new routine keeps working.
