How to teach dd to lay back down?

My LO turned one 3 weeks ago, she was a fantastic sleeper from 1 week old until 6.5 months, slept through every night then went terrible when we put her in her own room. She’s been up and down the last few months, I started gentle sleep training after Christmas and have gotten to the point where she now goes into her cot awake after bottle and falls asleep within a minute or so whilst I just potter round the room which I’m happy with. She can self settle if she stays lay down but if she sits herself up, she just cries until we go and lay her back down and then she’ll go back to sleep almost immediately.
We’re in the midst of the 12mo sleep regression atm (she’s just started walking this last week) so she’s waking every 1-2 hours and sitting up crying. Last night was every 30 minutes which was a killer. I’ve tried leaving her to cry it out to see if she settles herself back down but she just stands up if she’s left too long and then she it’s a good 2-3 hours to get her to settle again because she’s fully awake and gets excited to see us and wants to play (I don’t think she registers us when she’s just sat up as she still has her eyes closed and is mostly still asleep).
I’m not sure how/if I can teach her to lay herself back down from sitting or do anything to stop her from sitting up at all? As I say, if she stays lay down when she disturbs, she just puts her dummy back in and cuddles her comforter and goes straight back to sleep so the skill is there, it’s just getting her to realise she can lay herself back down/doesn’t need to sit up.
thank you! :)

When you go in to sooth her - lay down next to the cot and out hand in cot and pat mattress, tell her calmly repeatedly 'lay down mummy will hold your hand'

(Worked for us)

Ah thank you! I will try that tonight as I’m off work tomorrow so I can forego being tired.
