Weaning baby not eating much on holiday

We have taken our 7.5 month old across the world to stay with grandparents. We were doing reasonably well with weaning at home but since travelling she’s shown very little interest in food and has barely had any solid food for the last 6 days. We have tried pouches, homemade purée and finger foods she has eaten before. It think it may be a mix of jet lag and not being as comfortable in the portable high chair we are using. Should I be concerned? Bit worried she won’t eat anything for the whole month we are away.

what does she seem like generally? Is she happy within herself despite adapting to the clock changes. Is she drinking ok? Mine ate less while teething, distracted with experiences and while they were ill but bounced back after, remaining long term on the same percentile line.

Food before one is just for fun, so as long as she's getting enough milk it's fine.

BouncingWorms · 03/03/2023 04:27

how much was she realistically eating before?

If her milk is appropriate for the amount of food then I wouldn’t push it or worry, it will pick up again at some point. Food is still fairly new and there’s lot of other new things going on.

It's very adaptive. I mean we are the product of our evolution. When you're in a new place, BM would be the safest food. Stick to that until you're used to the new place.

Clever baby. Don't worry.

If she's still getting enough milk then just keep offering solids but don't worry if she doesn't eat much. We did BLW and my oldest barely ate a thing till 10 months old. She was bigger as a baby and toddler than her younger sister who ate lots of solids right from 6 months.

Thanks all for the reassurance. She seems fine otherwise, perhaps a bit more tired than usual from the extra stimulation of bring around family all the time so that could also be a factor.

She probably wasn’t eating a huge amount before (but enough to cause sone constipation) but was showing much more interest in food and trying a variety of food. She is still taking a similar amount of milk to at home but hadn’t dropped a bottle yet.
