7 week old suddenly crying constantly?

Hey, I hope this is normal and it passes but it's got me a bit concerned! 2 days ago I was trying to trim my daughter's nails which I haven't done before, she wriggled and I cut her thumb by accident 🙁 I'm not sure if it's just a coincidence that this crying episode has started at the same time but since that incident all she had done is wake up, feed, cry, sleep. Usually she would be awake for an hour or so during the day happily chilling out but now all she wants to do is sleep or cry. Even a night instead of being milk drunk after the night feed she was crying and needed soothed. I thought maybe she was just a bit shaken up from the pain but now that's it's been a while I'm getting worried. Before this she was such a happy content baby, giving us lots of smiles and coos. She hasn't smiled at us once since she got hurt and actively tries to look away from us 🙁 which makes me feel more guilty, it's like she's mad at me!!

I'm getting paranoid now that she's got ill, like tetanus or something?! The wound looks OK I think. The clippers weren't rusty or anything either... Is this crying spell related or a phase?

I think it’s probably totally unrelated. Babies do sometimes just have long crying spells. If you’re worried you could take her to a GP.
Are you sure she’s not having a growth spurt and extra hungry? Could you try feeding her more?
another option is to try a dummy.
babies this age also like to be carried around a lot.
it does pass I promise

Bless her, we've all nicked them by accident I'm sure! i would be very surprised if a little cut was related to intense crying, so I would probably say it's coincidental and I'm sure she's forgotten it!

Hazard a guess she's maybe having a growth spurt? She's still very tiny. I remember when my son had one at that age - I couldn't set him down for 3 days!

Could be a growth spurt maybe! I was actually thinking earlier that she does look a bit bigger, but I wasn't sure if that's because we haven't had much time looking at each other these past few days since I'm either chasing the toddler or she's in the sling because she just seems to want to sleep constantly all of a sudden. Doesn't seem like she's been extra hungry though

I don't think it's related to the cut, I'm sure she would have forgotten about it very soon after. My son is now 6 months and I hate to say it but around 6-8 weeks his horrendous colic phase of crying endlessly started and it was hell on earth. It was mainly in the evenings though , through the witching hour as they say between 5-8pm. So don't worry OP or is normal. As long as she's fed, warm clean and dry there's not much else you can do x

@overthinking23 oh no I really really hope this isn't colic starting, I've been at my wits end already barely coping as it is... I kept thinking how grateful I was that it wasn't worse

Oh sorry I didn't mean to worry you!! It may just be a phase of a grumpy few days for some reason. We now know my son has CMPA which could have started at any time so really, his colic phase could have started when he developed that so may have been pain from the formula hurting him then
