As it says really 😂
Since about 3m old baby has been constantly ramming his hands in his mouth sometimes the whole fist 😂 at first I wasn’t bothered as I know babies explore with their mouths but he’s refluxy and sometimes he rams his fingers in and hits his gag reflex and ends up coughing choking and spitting up! I know i can’t stop him but I kinda thought he’d learn 😂
sister in law mentioned teething but seems early and no other symptoms really and gums look fine.

anyone else’s babe just ramming their whole first in their mouth every waking opportunity??

Yep pretty standard behaviour for that age! We had these crinkly teething gloves things and lots of chew toys for our two, but they definitely preferred their hands!

Yes, mine still does this at 8 months! He did have his first teeth at 5 months.

totally normal stage of development.

DD1 spent her entire babyhood with the four fingers of her left hand jammed in her mouth. Right hand twizzling hair (hers or mine). It's not ususual.

Toddlers still do it because it’s a developmental thing. It’s how they figure out the world.

ecossegirl91 · 28/02/2023 13:53

That’s fine - I assumed as much! I think it’s just the choking and subsequent spitting up that’s got me like 🙈

Mine continued like this until about 12 months 🤦‍♀️

Catonahottin · 28/02/2023 14:24

It’s perfectly normal.

Redebs · 28/02/2023 14:29

It's normal.
Important for development.
Just keep the little fingers clean by going between them with a clean damp cloth a couple of times a day

Springintoabetterlife · 28/02/2023 14:46

He is gagging not choking. Choking is silent.
