Taxi to school

If you could put your DC in a taxi to go to school (subsidised scheme from the LA) would you? Or would you still want to drop them off and pick them up yourself?

For context DC are 10 and 8. School run by car is 15 mins each way. Parent works flexible hours from home so no issues with timing vs work etc.

My DS is 6 and travels to school by taxi, I was worried to begin with but it has actually been fine. My kids go to different schools (one SEN) so doing both school runs would be difficult but not impossible.

My DD had school transport for a while... allocated a different school than her sister. She was 8.

I did find it strange that the children being picked up by their parents had to be picked up from the playground and seen by the teacher, but the taxi children could leave the school and cross the road and find the taxi parked anywhere along the road. (She shared the taxi with another girl from her school and a third from a different school who was picked up after them)

My 3DC all went to school taxi from the time they started Reception because the school along the road from us was closed. DD1 was on admission list so she had transport until she was 11, DD2 and DS had free travel until they were 8 then we had to pay a contribution. Home to school was nearly 3 miles along a rural road with no pavements nor speed limit.
They loved their ‘school taxi’ community and the driver was a local chap who became friendly with many of the parents.

Please can someone suggest a good taxi service to do the school run in south west London?

My LA has just given me a travel budget for my son with high functioning autism. They refused to provide taxi. His school is about 3.5 miles from home. I enquired with one taxi service, they charged a minimum of £30 per journey! The budget LA provides is not much.

I would be so grateful if you could suggest reliable cab services.

Many thanks in advance!

If I didn't need the service, I probably wouldn't use it, seems a bit daft if I could facilitate not to just on principal that they will
