15 month old not walking

My 15 month old daughter has zero interest in walking, won't walk holding my hands or anything but will walk along furniture etc quite happily. She also doesn't stand unaided unless she doesn't realise she has done it - she then panics and reaches for something.

Shes a very cautious little thing but compared to other babies i feel like she's quite behind.

She is a massive talker with about 30 words which is ace but I feel like I'm constantly defending her to people when they say "what do you mean she isn't walking yet?"

Arrghhhh i know it's probably nothing to worry about but is there anything i can be doing to encourage her?

Don't worry, my daughter is nearly 16 months and has only just started walking by herself around the house. She refuses to walk anywhere else by herself and she's been very stop and start with her walking since she turned one in November.

She however has zero words. She babbles, mama dadad, etc but hasn't had a first word yet. Feel like my eldest was already completing puzzles and having full conversations by this age lol (exaggerating but ykwim).

They are all different and 15 months old is definitely not late for walking. Agree it's not early but if she wasn't even able to stand and her legs were giving way then it might be more concerning. You say she is cruising furniture etc and does stand by herself when she doesn't realise so those are all good signs she will walk soon. Just in her own time.

Firstly she isn't a late walker she is normal.
More importantly you will be subjected to people comparing their DCs to yours for the next 20 years . It is odious and usually, as in this case, ridiculous. Is there a merit in walking at 12 months rather than 18? Is a parent falling down by not some how engineering their child to walk earlier? Realise that it is their issue and insecurity and not yours and find a technique for ignoring or quickly moving on from this type of intervention.

I was just over 18 months when I walked. One day my mum came back into the room and I was walking to get something. I wasn't even toddling. Turns out I just liked being carried everywhere. I wouldn't worry.

My son was 20 months! Just got up and ran across the room one day! I wish I could have all that worrying time back!

They're all different, I wouldn't worry. My 16 month old is great with walking and climbing, but she only has mama as a word, and even then rarely used. I think they often seem to develop more in one area and then catch up later in others.

Also how long/ tall is your child it can take longer for longer children to figure out how their limbs work.
