hi. quite confused - my daughter is 2 next month and past few days has been throwing up at random times (morning/before bed etc but big gaps 12hrs inbetween). 2 days ago noticed this rash after nursery, weird circle shaped hives and disappeared in a couple of hours then reappeared again on leg, and spread all over. her cheeks were all red and covered in hives. gave her piriton which helped a bit but she’s thrown up 3 times since.

took her to gp who thinks allergy but the only thing she’s had within hours of the vomiting incidents was cows milk (overnight, just after nursery, etc). which she’s been drinking happily since she turned 1 - is it possible for her to just suddenly be allergic after nearly a year of drinking it?

im confused as i have food allergies myself (and an epipen so i’m not new to this!) but they’ve never presented this way even when i was a baby myself?

pics attached any advice would be great please :)

Oh bless her. Yes as far as I know you can develop allergies at any stage, especially if you have a genetic pre disposition to allergies which she likely does given your history.

I assume the gp has arranged testing?

But as an aside, obviously hard to tell from photos but they look like bites! Especially as they are in lines. Are they definitely hives? And not reactions to bites?

Has she been unwell too? We saw an allergy doctor after my daughter had an allergy response to something and he advised that because she was unwell at the time it was most likely that it wasn't a true allergic reaction she was experiencing, but more an intolerance almost, and because she was unwell at the time her immune system was already in overdrive which is why she reacted having never reacted before xx

she had chicken pox a few weeks ago but other than that no. we are so confused - she’s still getting hives on and off so that’s 4 days now, the vomiting stopped yesterday morning but she still has hives popping up tonight even though had none all day.

we can’t work out a link, the only thing we thought was milk but then we’ve been giving her oat milk instead last 24 hours and still has new hives? also the hives are never on her torso?

we’ve been referred to immunology but no idea how long it’ll take

My baby is very prone to viral hives when he is poorly/run down/teething-maybe the sickness and hives are simply part of a virus rather than an allergy given she's not had anything new? X

I also meant to say when my baby is suffering from a viral rash/hives it comes and goes too!!!!! X

You urgently need to see Doctor at A &E

It sounds very much, like she has had allergic reaction to Salmon she has eaten,

Usaully or often extremley senistive people like this,
Are potentially Allergic to other kinds of irritants ect
