Baby breathing spasms after crying

Hi, my 8 week old just screamed for an hour non stop and nothing I did was soothing him. He eventually fell asleep after bouncing in the bouncy chair and I noticed he's having breathing spasms or kind of like gasps in his sleep? You know when you cry really hard and you can't catch your breath afterwards, it's kind of like that if that makes sense. Is this normal? It's been going on for about an hour

My nearly 10 month old does this when she’s cried really really hard for an extended period (she’s never left alone, she’s with her daddy but wants me!). It’s so sad to listen to, the little gasps! It’s normal, it’s just her catching her breath. It passes quickly so I imagine your baby’s breathing remained like that for an hour because they’re so tiny and new. As time goes on, they’ll be stronger and able to regulate their breathing back to normal. Sounds like you’ve got a firecracker on your hands like we do! 🤣

Oh DS3 does this too, again when his dad tries to tend to him at night (such torture! HmmGrin) and he did it when I first left him at nursery. Poor things, it does make you feel really sorry for them!

It didn't happen that early, only when he's been older, but he was easy to soothe as a little baby and never had any extended periods of crying. I would think yes it's just the aftermath of being upset.
