4 month old suddenly constipated

Just that really
my 4 month old, formula fed baby, is now been constipated for the last 2 days -not sure why.
no change to diet or qty and his poos previously have always been “correct” consistency and colour.
past 2 days they’ve been hard little lumps! He doesn’t seem in pain when passing which is good but he must really need a good poop!

wonder why this has randomly happened? Does it warrant a gp appt? Is it something that will sort itself?
i have heard ready made can help?

Sometimes it's the powdered formula.

You can try giving a ready made feed, that would clear mine.

Baby massage, lots of videos on you tube.

My breast fed baby changed overnight from 5 - 6 poos a day to pooing roughly once a day. Not hard lumps though. Doctor told me ‘normal is anything between 7 times a day and once every 7 days’ which I think was poetic licence.

He’s always been a one poop a day baby since basically birth - if he suddenly changed to every few days but the consistency was ok then I wouldn’t worry but his little poop this morning was so little and hard it rolled off the nappy 😔 he wasn’t in pain passing it tho and his tummy still feels soft. Wee lamb.

Definitely not poetic licence for a BF baby but for them at that age it's normal between every feed and once every 2 weeks.

So your GP was almost correct but this is specific advise for BF babies only.

OP I think you've had some good advice on trying a ready prepared formula and trying baby massage.
