My mum accidentally bought my daughter some puzzles for 3+ years when she was 22 months, before this we just had wood peg puzzles and 2 piece puzzles. She has just turned 2 and she do 24 piece puzzles alone now, I have ordered her some bigger puzzles to challenge her more.

She's my first, I just want to know if she is a puzzle wiz or is this pretty standard for kids her age?

Some kids love puzzles and do them early. Others aren't interested. Probably doesn't mean much, just let your child have fun.

Same as PP… my 2 yr old isn’t interested in puzzles and wouldn’t hold his concentration long enough my for a 6 piece puzzle but if you asked him he could tell you exactly how to change the oil or a tyre on my car and the names of each tool you would need.

I don't know if I'm more impressed by his knowledge of cars or by the fact he can articulate this to you.

My cousin was very in the tractors from a young age and knew everything about them, it was his absolute passion and it still is.

I never particularly had anything that I loved that much and to be honest I don't have a lot of patience to sit and do a puzzle, which is why it's so lovely to see how much she enjoys it and that she can actually sit and patiently do it.

I guess I have my answer, she's simply a puzzle kind of person ☺️

I should have said he is closer to 3 so his speech is getting better! Very basic sentences but he gets things in the correct order which shows the retention.

i am a puzzle person so was a bit disappointed when he didn’t share my interest lol

First child is wonderful as it's a new journey for everyone! Your child will get good at whatever they practise most, so if you give them puzzles they can get ahead in that. However if they spend too much time on any one thing it takes up time they could be doing other things! So in some ways you want to focus on the weaker areas as well as the areas they enjoy already.
Main thing is to get a balance between what they enjoy and also covering off a variety of different activities and skills. Oh and what you enjoy as well.
