Should I cancel?

My parents (and sister who lives with them, she’s close to my age and does help) are having my 1 y/o tonight for a sleepover mainly so me and DH can have some alone time and rest a bit

DS hasn’t slept the best for a little bit now we get the odd good night but it’s a struggle atm

im just sat up now wondering should I cancel the sleepover. I feel quite guilty thinking about how he could have a bad night there (even though in the past he does sleep better tbere) and feel guilty for putting that on them while i chill and sleep

They’ve offered to have your DS precisely so you can rest.

One night with an unsettled little one is nothing when you’re well rested (which your sister and parents are, presumably), but night after night wears you down (that’s why you need the rest).

Enjoy the break.

Don’t cancel! They are doing it because they love you and they love your child.

enjoy the rest. I live nowhere near my family but I would happily give them my baby right now for a night so I could sleep 😅 and my baby is an awful sleeper!

No dont cancel! You are looking at this through your eyes. You do his care and night shifts 7 days a week. If your DS has a bad night, they will catch up on sleep the following night.

Oh that's a tricky one! I would definitely feel bad about it as well.

It's really important to have some husband time. Even more so to be well rested! You'll be a better mum for it overall.

I've read plenty of stories about bad sleepers being angelic at grandparents' and sleeping right through. Crossing my fingers for you that yours is one of them!

Goldandpurplezebra · 11/02/2023 08:46

They'll sleep better there. You're probs tired and can't think straight. They have offered to help.

Thanks everyone I just feel so bad but they said they’re all okay with it and want to have him which I’m lucky with :)

just got major mum guilt!!!

No definitely not! They've had babies themselves, they are aware of how unpredictable they can be but they have still offered. Enjoy the break with no guilt whatsoever, every parent deserves a break
