I have 3 DD’s aged 5, 2 and 3 months. Please tell me this is the hard part! (I understand teenagers are hard but I’m hoping not in a - my life depends on you feeding me every 3 hours - kind of way!)

Yes it is! I had 3 under 4 and they're now 13, 15 and 17. I found it much harder then!

Sorry - 15, 12 and 10 here and omg I had no idea raising teens/tweens was so hard! But I do get a lot more sleep now so that's something!

Seriously, yes, having 3 under 5 was physically tough. But oh my, the years that followed - once the youngest was around 2 I guess - were utterly golden and I would live them over again in a heart beat.

Yes OP, in my experience that is the mind numbing, bone crushing tiredness part. Where you feel like you’ve lost yourself completely (that’s how I felt anyway).

I have a mid-teen and a tween and it is lovely! Obviously there are the friend and boy issues but they are relatable, we have things in common and they are sensible coherent people who mostly have responsibility for their hygiene!

I was on a waiting list for swimming lessons and they offered me a place but had to decline due to bf and find it really tough. DH and I are in bed 9:30pm most nights!

looking forward to the having a conversation with them stage!!!

It really does depend on so many things. I loved the time when I had a 3 under 5 and we have had a horrendous time with one of our teenager but it isn't the same for everyone

So many things do get easier as they become older and increasingly independent but with that comes its own challenges.

Try and enjoy the time when they are little- even if it is exhausting!

Primary school age is the best. They're learning new things all the time, they're pleasant and chatty, they bring friends home for play dates.

You're right though, teenage years are fucking hard. I'm genuinely more tired now than when they were toddlers; both from the emotional arrggh, the constant taxi service and the late nights. I'm lucky if I get six hours sleep.
