15 Month old shaking after naps

Wondering if anyone has experienced this before and can reassure / inform / make me more anxious?

Our 15 month old DD has had a fever since Saturday. The fever itself is more or less gone, but the oddest thing is that she wakes up from naps / sleep trembling. The best way to describe it is like a shake you get when you're extremely, teeth chattering cold. Hands shaky and everything. She's also very irritable and clingy at this point. (I should point out her room isn't cold.)

Once awake, I give her ibuprofen, and within 15 minutes she is almost completely back to herself (appetite back, drinking fluids etc) smiling, playing. Interestingly, Calpol / paracetamol does nothing, only Ibuprofen seems to work.

This started on Sat, and even though the fever is gone, it's still happening? Well, it did this morning.

We've been to the doctor and to A&E where they tested her pee and monitored her for a few hours. We were told it was likely a viral infection and sent home. About the shaking, they said it was a rigor from the fever. They gave us a checklist of when to come back in / call a doctor, and she doesn't meet any of the criteria which I guess is reassuring.

Has anyone experienced this? Have any thoughts / advice?

No experience but have you googled it? I have a bit of a mistrust of doctors and tend to Google everything and check their assessment!

I have but just did again, and found a thread on this very forum from 2008 with a similar query. Seems like it might be nothing to worry about. It just is so out of the blue it's worrying me, but again, she's fine in herself so perhaps I should chill (excuse the pun).

My daughter did this whenever I would wake her from a nap and it was explained to me that it was basically just her nervous system regulating after being asleep, if she woke naturally it wouldn't happen. But I guess the difference is that it was consistent for her whereas with your DD it is a new thing?

Yeah it's new - since Saturday. She has been getting less sleep overall thanks to the fever / illness, so perhaps that's related to it. She does seem quite uncomfortable for a good 10 minutes after waking, until I can get ibuprofen into her.
