Well I am looking at re teaching too in the future (PG atm so a fe eyars away) anda lot of my course have been accepted for RE PGCE this year.

Firstly, check for availablility of RE PGCE courses near you..... even though our Uni does the RE, it doesn't teach PGCE in that subject (weird as a specialist of BA Primary), and we have to commute 2 hours to Carmarthen or get across to bristol (bridge tolls!) each day.

Nobody on our course ahs been refused a place on the Secondary. If youn were looking for primary I'd say be cautious as ther is a hge refusal rate across priamry at the moment, our Uni just reduced admissions by 40%!. The criteria (at Carmarthen) seems to be that if you have a good reference from Uni, at least a weeks worke xperience (built into education courses anyway as a rule- ahrder toa rrnage if youre doing a single like I am) and a ":" or above you get in.

Plus, my friend who is doing educationa nd English at bath gets a guranteed place on his PGCE as a result of the education policy.

If I'm honest I hated the course at first but that was because it wasn't what I expected.

It is very theoretical and you don't actual cover much about teaching. Now I have come to accept that it's not a teacher training course I'm really starting to enjoy it and others on my course feel the same.

For the interview I would say make sure you are aware of as many current issues in education as possible. Buy the Guardian on a Tuesday and read the education supplement. Also read the Times education supplement. Don't just know about the issues but have an opinion on them too.

Please ask if you have any other questions

Good Luck
