Teething? Fever? When to worry?

Hi guys,

sorry, I have OCD and pretty bad anxiety, so I never know if my internal panicathons when my little one is poorly is justified or not and always then try to downplay things, but I worry I downplay when I should be worried.

my 14 month old has a bad cough, extremely runny nose with the green gunk and now extremely red cheeks (they look sunburned) with her wee ears also turning bright red.

my wee girl takes after me in that she’s as white as white pale can be so the red is really noticeable but it is bad.

what also worries me is that for 2 days she’s had a temperature of 38.5 / 38.7, calpol is being given and seems to bring down, but then shoots up when it wears off.

my question is, when should I worry! I’m assuming it’s a cold and teething and my Dr’s are always mega busy and I really do feel like a nuisance calling them about these things…. I get blown off being told it’s viral…

Although the last time it took 9 weeks for them to do tests on her when she was poorly and kept telling me it was viral, even though my partner and I both managed to get strep and I was convinced she had it to, kept telling me no, it’s super unlikely and she ended up blinking having strep!

sorry, that last bit was a rant, but I really don’t want to to go to Dr’s if it’s just my anxiety driving it if that makes sense 💕💕

Since the temps aren't excessive and Calpol is bringing it down whilst active, I would not personally go to the doctor if that was my child. I believe you'll find the NHS advice agrees with me, but you should of course check it for yourself.
It's scary when they're sick though, I understand.

I'd give it another day or two before seeing the doc especially if she's drinking enough and eating a little, not too miserable in herself. those temps are normal for a virus.
