About nurseries...

Heya all, need some guidance again!
My DD is 1 and about to start nursery. We signed her up when she was 6months. Today we had the first settling session and I was surprised to find I don't like the nursery I picked anymore. It might just be my anxiety, though.

Is it normal that the rooms are kept at a crisp 19 degrees? I thought it was freezing!
Also, the floors looked quite dirty, I doubt they vacuum every day. More like 1/week. Is this normal?
All the toys etc looked dated and sad and so does the staff...

Am I expecting too much? What pisses me off is this nursery had an outstanding ofsted rating when i signed up. But between then and now they had another inspection and now they are "needs improvement". Obviously, I didn't know about it until I googled today...

All the other good nurseries in the area are booked till Sept. We'll see how this goes, but can someone please give me some advice on the above?

Also, if I sign her up for one of the other nurseries from Sept (and suck it up till then), would this be a major disruption for the little one? Do they create strong bonds with people places at this age?

Look at childminders in the area if nurseries are booked up. Always go with your gut feeling and if it’s dirty and tired now - when they’ve had a poor ofsted report and should be desperately trying to improve then it doesn’t bode well.

The dirtiness (as long as not too bad) and the tired toys wouldn't worry me - tired toys are ones that are played with and an un-perfect environment is one that is lived in and used.

However, the recent requires improvement rating would obviously worry me and it sounds like your first impression of the staff isn't great - what is the detail of the report and the recommendations out of it? Sometimes they can be pulled up on things easily fixed eg process/procedure. Other issues eg culture/staff practices are less quickly solved. I would speak with the manager and ask what they are putting in place/doing as a result of the report, and see what you make of the response.
