Worth taking my dd to the GP?

At what point would you say it's acceptable to call the GP?

My DD is 2yo, on the one hand she doesn't have a temperature or a rash. She's still breastfeeding, drinking water and oat milk, but on the other hand she's not eating much at all which is not like her. She's been waking excessively at night, it's as though she's in discomfort. She becomes exhausted fast and will not want to even stand up, just lay down on the floor or sofa. She does have a bit of a cold but her nose hasn't been that runny tbh and she hasn't got a cough.

She's been like this since Saturday, my mum said she thinks I should call the GP but I feel like they might think I'm overreacting because she is eating a bit, drinking plenty and has no temperature.

Thank you if you managed to read all that, would you ring the doctors or soldier on?

If she is eating a bit and drinking plenty then the essential markers in her blood (sugars, sodium, potassium etc) should be fine. If she has a cold she probably can’t breathe at night so try some Klearvol on a tissue near her pillow even though she doesn’t have a runny nose, it could still be blocked, which is extremely uncomfortable. A cold will make her tired but should burn itself through in the next couple of days and then if she is still not well, you still have the option. (That’s my personal view so nobody come at me for it!) Good luck with her I hope she gets better soon x

GP said to me they can go afew days without food, it's the liquid intake they need which she is doing.

If she's not eating she will become tired quicker.

What are you expecting the GP to do?

genuine question, I always ask my mum when she suggests a GP trip.

it’s only been 3 days, she has very mild symptoms. At this point it will be “it’s a virus, fluids and rest”.

if the exhaustion etc persists for longer than you’d expect a virus to run, say 2 weeks, then yes, a GP appointment would be appropriate.

I’d take her to be checked out. My DC was similar albeit with a temp and had tonsillitis.

Her dad said the same as you. She had a UTI which we missed when she was a newborn and it all escalated quite quickly at the time, so when she gets poorly it's hard to tell whether we are just being particularly sensitive or whether we are letting her down again by not taking action and speaking to a GP.
