Baby rolled front to back but stopped

Baby boy is 3.5 months - 4 months in a few weeks.
he’s never been great at tummy time - hates it - but can lift head well and has good control.
a week to ten days ago I popped him on his tummy and he rolled to his back. He done this a few times consecutively and again the following few days however now when I put him on his tummy he won’t roll. Makes no attempt. Is this normal to suddenly stop?

Usually once they master a skill you’ll find they stop doing it whilst working on the next skill. He’ll be rolling around the room before you know!

My DS has done the exact same thing and is a similar age. He now grunts in frustration when on his tummy like he knows he used to be able to roll.... 🤣 I think he's mastering other skills and pp said.

Mine has also done the same thing but a bit later. Rolled once at 6 months and hasn’t done it since (now 7 months) and she hates tummy time even though she has good head control when sitting up. Perhaps she has been focusing on the sitting up instead?

My baby rolled back to front once or twice and then stopped doing it which I thought was odd. Fast forward a month and then he was so obsessed with rolling he was doing it constantly all night and then crying when he got stuck on his front (he could only roll back to front)

Mine both hated rolling, tummy time all of that stuff.

They each did it once or twice inadvertently and were so personally offended by it they made sure it never happened again!

They're 13 and 11 now and can roll normally if required to do so but the occasion rarely calls for it 🤣

🤣👍
Many's the anxious time I spent perched on the bed hoping one of them would roll enthusiastically. It weren't happening.

Yep mine rolled for the first time at 12 weeks (!) Did it a few times and then didn't bother again 😂 he's five months old now.
