How much formula to give 4mo?

My 4mo was exclusively breast fed until recently, she's dropped in weight percentile a bit so we're giving her a bottle of formula at night. But I'm not sure how much to give her?

The amount the packaging suggests seems HUGE, plus it's based on exclusively bottle feeding which she isn't. She can't seem to take more than 120ml at a time.

She also still wakes up every 2 hours or so for a quick feed and I've read she should be going for longer stretches, so maybe she's not eating enough to fill her tummy? How do I get her to fill up more?

Every 2 hours is perfect for a bf baby.

Do you want to give formula or are you just worried about weight?

@Sucessinthenewyear Oh is it different for bf babies? Everything on google is saying she should be sleeping 6h by this age without feeding. I'm only giving her the formula for her weight, the doctor suggested we do one at bedtime if I'm concerned for her weight but he didn't seem worried about it.

I don't know many babies that sleep for six hours at 4 months.

Have a read of this on normal infant sleep.

Have a read of this on increasing baby's weight as well.

Agree with the PP, waking every two hours for a feed at 4 months is perfectly normal too and isn't an indication that there is anything wrong.

Ha ha. I was lucky if mine slept 6 hours straight at 2 years.

You don’t need to give formula. But if you want to then make sure you pace feed so you don’t over feed.
