How to keep baby warm at night?

Bit of a random specific issue!

1yo HATES sleeping bag, sleepsuits. He likes to move a lot and be free and even his feet but when he’s been falling asleep I’ve sneaked some socks onto his little feet.

We’ve tried a baby quilt - nope. He doesn’t want anything.

he goes down about 7 then ends up in our bed around 12am and I can tell he’s waking because he’s cold. His room is cool.

we can’t leave the heating on too long as our upstairs retains heat so much and it’d overheat him badly, we leave it on as long as we can but due to it being cold it cools down quickly.

Any tips? He’s fine next to us he warms up as he’s inbetween us both but I’m not sleeping due to no covers on me and him kicking me frequently 😂

he hates anything on him when he’s asleep!!!

Will he wear a footless sleepsuit? Or only wants a vest?

DS1 was like this. He now sleeps totally naked! But does at least use a duvet :D

Can you not just have the heating on a really low setting?

Gfe · 03/02/2023 10:15

@BertieBotts He wears pyjamas! So I have bought fleecy ones to add some heat but if I try to put socks on him while he’s awake it’s a big no no

the heating in our house is a bit funny it works towards a temp so when it reaches it it’ll go off but if it goes 0.1 degree under that it’ll fire back up until it reaches that again if that makes sense?

I may look to see if his radiator has numbers on it (aka get my husband too as I am not hand one bit) and try to get that low

I just worry as our upstairs is so warm easily

Footed sleeping bag? Allows them to move around in the same way as if they were just wearing clothes. Just shove some socks on underneath.

Ah yes fleecy PJs are good. Primark always have them for cheap or I get them on vinted. Or DS3 doesn't really need it, because he (unlike any of my other 2 children!) will actually stay under a blanket and snuggle up warm Confused (this baffles me totally, he is only 1.5) - anyway - what I was saying is, I bought a fleecy zip up sleepsuit to put OVER his pyjamas, because he also hates sleeping bags due to not being able to walk in them.

We have a heater in the children's room set to 20 degrees, it lets it drop down to 17 and then it will kick in to heat up again, it's not too warm but it keeps it from getting really chilly in there.
