Tips for babies and jet leg?

We are travelling UK to NZ soon (and back again) and was wondering what to expect with babies and jet leg? Do you make an effort to get them used to the new time zone straight away and follow a similar pattern to at home or just let them feed and sleep on demand?

At home we never tried to implement a routine but have settled into one naturally where DD (7 months) goes to bed around 8pm and either sleeps through the night for 11-12 hours or wakes for the dummy a few time but no longer has milk. During the day she has a bottle on average every 3 hours as well as 1-2 ‘meals’ and 3 naps.

We arrive at 6am so have a full day to survive until bed time.

No advice but good luck. Sounds like you'll need to be very flexible.

Thanks! I am just so paranoid about ruining her good night time sleep with this trip.

I think you can’t do a huge amount.

But one thing is try and keep to say and night. Ie if asleep in the morning, let them lie in the first few days if needed, but no later than say 9am. That way they should get back into day/ night, breakfast at breakfast time not 11am etc

Ooh lucky you to be going away!

we adjusted our baby a bit each day, by an hour or 2, didn’t wake early from naps to ensure she woke at the better time. Eventually she settled into new times but yeah move into the new time zone asap so do breakfast when you get to resort etc

have an amazing time!

also, it’s jet lag!
