Best nappies for older children?

user49753267547005 · 03/02/2023 03:56

Looking for the best disposable nappies for 4.5yo dd. She is slim but very tall and I've tried lots of disposables but they all seem to leak. Pampers, Dry Nites. I've resorted to putting period pads into her nappies.

We already have cloth nappies that don't leak but looking for disposables

Any recommendations?

TIA

Why isn't she trained yet?

LadyJ2023 · 03/02/2023 04:04

She should be trained by that age not wearing nappies at all. Cant recomend anything for that age unfortunately. Our 4 boys were trained by 2 and just over and our girls are just over 1 and go potty or toilet in daytime and only wear at night atm

What a pointless and unhelpful comment.

I'm sure the OP means at night. Having the same problem with my 4yr old OP, the leaking drives me nuts

Can’t wait until Lady J is wetting the bed as an old lady and people turn around and ask why she isn’t potty trained lol

Such unhelpful comments around being trained 🙄
My 8 year old is not dry at night and we use the age 8-15 dry nites.

What vile comments

MY DD HAS DEVELOPMENTAL DELAY AND SUSPECTED AUTISM.

She may not be potty trained but she has more kindness in her little body than the 2 previous posters ever will.

Thank you. We have the 4-7 dry nites on at the moment but I think as she's so slim they don't stay on in the correct position and keep leaking

No nappy advice I'm afraid. But ignore the horrible, judgemental comments. All children develop at different speeds.

MolkosTeenageAngst · 03/02/2023 07:19

I teach in a special school where most of the children are still in nappies at this age. The continence team supply the children who aren’t yet big enough to go into incontinence brands (Eg: Tena, Molicare) with Libero nappies: www.incontinenceshop.com/libero-comfortlibero-comfort-7-16-26kg-pack-of-21?gclid=Cj0KCQiA2-2eBhClARIsAGLQ2RkcgpmYCABzhuv4MRDxsBwsETSOY_naAnnzwcVCowvmAMRCGpyuBnkaAisbEALw_wcB

I find taped nappies are better than pull-ups on most children in terms of stopping leaks, nine times out of ten if a child at school leaks they’re in a pull-up.

LeticiaDejeuner · 03/02/2023 07:22

I can't remember the brand, but I used to get pull-up night nappies from Boots that went up, in 3 year age bands, to 15 years. They were good, but very expensive.

I had a friends mum tell me to my face that my son should be potty trained already, I can't remember his exact age at the time but it was obviously late. I was devastated and could've cried. Now I'm older and more confident I would give her a piece of mind. The comments I've had regarding my son are enough to make you hate and distrust everyone. Some people are just vile and mean and can't look past their own little lives. He's since been diagnosed with autism and like your child is the kindest boy.

AmySma1 · 03/02/2023 14:44

The tesco size 6 work with our 4 year old DD and we use taped nappies with her. They do a size 7 as mine is not as tall. They work fine through the day and night

Thanks so much.

I think you're right Re taped vs pull ups, it's the pull ups that leak! Pampers premium protection/ active fit worked so well with us but it's difficult to get the bigger sizes.

I'm sorry to hear this. :( It's such a thoughtless thing to do. I was in A&E a few weeks ago, one of the male nurses said "she needs to be more adaptable" when dd didn't want to get out of her wheelchair and walk. 😬 it's hi early beyond me. See also "Why aren't they talking/ walking/ crawling yet?"
I just can't imagine ever saying anything like that to anyone but then I'm autistic myself. Kindness is the rarest, best quality and I'm sure your son knows this. Flowers

The best ones we've found are Little Rascals nappy pants and Tesco whilst we wait for the continence team to prescribe.
