I'm curious to see what people say is the hardest age. I have 3

(8)(2.5)and 4 months.

for me I'd say 3 was pretty rough. But I'm curious what others think.

Ha I see I posted on this thread 2 years ago and said toddlers are the hardest. Still true for me (my teens are lovely).

Depends on what you find tough

Ds was extremely energetic at aged 3

Ds was moody and wouldn't walk at aged 3

We are currently in the golden ages of 8-11

God help the teenage years

Not all teens are a nightmare. My 16 year old DS is very sensible, predicted 7 to 9 in all GCSEs and has a great network of friends. They have been mates since preschool, like gaming and playing football. They all decided in y7 there was no point ruining their female friendships with relationships and have stuck to that. They are probably considered a bit boring and geeky but are quite mature and look out for one another. I told him I understood lots of 16th birthday parties involved drinking so if they wanted a can or two of cider each they could take them from our fridge. They chose lemonade and weight lifting.
Then my dd is 13 and has autism which means she isn’t sociable. She is also bright, tries her hardest at school and loves spending her weekends going round museums with me.
I personally think some people struggle with the teen years because their dc become independent and they don’t like the loss of control. If you accept your child has their own life to lead and you are there to advise it saves a lot of arguments.
Set the groundwork when they are at primary school by being honest with them and making sure they know you can discuss anything. That way they will come to you when they have worries. Also always offer lifts to them and their friends, this is when you learn the most about what is actually going on.
For me having my first newborn was the hardest part as life changed overnight and I struggled with the lack of sleep. From then on it has just got easier.

My daughter was quite wild (at times) at the age of 9

My eldest 2 are 20 and 18 and this is harder, heartbreaking and more stressful than toddlers
