Anyone else's infant grind their teeth?

DD's top two teeth broke through in the last week and she has started grinding her teeth while she's awake (I've not heard her do it in her sleep). Today she's been quite obviously struggling with some sort of teething pain (wants to nurse/is clingy/chewing everything like mad/somewhat relieved by teething drops), but she's also been doing it on days where I wouldn't suspect her to be in discomfort based on her behaviour. The noise goes through me and of course this isn't going to be good for her teeth! I have no idea if this is her exploring the sensation of now having top and bottom teeth or what, but moreso whether it's normal. Anyone else?

Yes, my LO grinds his teeth when new ones come through. It doesn't last very long, only a couple of days!

It’s normal and our dentist says only a problem if it continues past 6 years of age.

@Eixample @Ftumch Thank you both, I'll just have to find a way to block the sound out in the meantime!

I was worried about this as I'm an awful night teeth grinder, I wore down my teeth and have a mouth guard for night time but dentist reassured me that it was perfectly normal and should stop without me needing to be concerned, this was when DC was 6 months, he's now 15 months and hasn't done it at all for ages, even when new teeth came through!

DD (now 12) did this when she was much younger but hadn’t done it for years. Definitely think it’s something that young kids sometimes do and nothing to be concerned about unless it continues.

Yup. My 19 month old still does it. I try my hardest to ignore it as it drives me mental🙈and he obviously has no clue what I'm on about. Hoping he grows out it soon😂
