Why is my child always ill

Currently up with 17 month old DD who is being sick and I don't know what I can do to help her 😭

Since just before Xmas it seems as if she's had every illness going around. She gets one week break in between every illness and my heart just breaks for her. Before Xmas it was that horrible cold/flu type bug going around, then it was a viral infection, followed by a bad course of thrush due to the antibiotic, then Xmas eve it was a viral Infection again, the day after boxing day was hand foot and mouth which all in lasted about 2 weeks, she returned to the childminder lasted 3 days (her usual week) and was off again with an ear infection.

Has been on antibiotics from the end of last week all set to go back to the childminder today and we've now been up since 3am with her being sick 😭.

So now after checking in with the childminder at tea time yesterday about her returning today I'm going to have to call to say nope she won't be back for at least another 2 days and phone work again after having so much time off at Xmas.

I get children get sick but I'm becoming worried about how many times DD is not well. She only goes to the CM 3 days a week and isn't around any other children outwith them 3 days apart from older DD who is 11 (who actually spends most of her time in her room). With her being not well DD has actually barley spent any time with CM over the last month so I'm not sure where she's picking things up. Oldest DD is never not well.

It is normal for children that age to be I'll a lot due to developing immune system. Plus I think this year is worse after covid/social distancing over past two years. At that age around one illness a month is considered normal. If you feel like. It's more you could get it checked out? You say she's been sick could it be a gut reaction to antibiotics rather than another illness?

@autienotnaughty she has been on the antibuotic since Thursday morning, 3 times a day and she seems to have been fine with it so I'm not sure if it would be that. She has had antibiotics a few times and never been sick with them.

She wasn't up for eating much today so not sure if something has been working on her throughout the day but this means she's not been brining up any actual food it's more just bile type sick but she's just been sick again there and this is what it looks like.

Sorry for the gross picture just a bit concerned with the colour.

@Forgooodnesssakenow I'm not sure if it's blood or its brown I'm home alone with the kids so trying not to overthink hence why I posted it here because I get my judgement could be a bit cloudy as I'm already worried as it is.

I would go to out of hours for that 💐

autienotnaughty · 23/01/2023 05:03

Obviously you can see it better but if you think it's blood go out of hours or ring gp when they open.

What else would be reddish brown but blood? Definitely call 111 or go to out of hours with that!

Good luck, hopefully all is well and just an irritated tummy. My 17 month old has been exactly the same and passed everything to my almost 5 yr old and I'm exhausted and on my arse and work is a shitshow etc. All the empathy.

Have you utmost sympathy! This seemed to be my DD from aug-dec (in Scotland so nursery term starts aug). She never got rid of a snotty nose until the Christmas holidays when she had a break, and thankfully been ok since.
Hope your appointment goes ok.
Some say, the more bugs they pick up now the less school they'll miss as they will have built up their immunity. I hope this is true and we are all in for more peaceful school years!!
