After applying through UCAS for a diploma in child nursing, I've got an interview next week and am now stressing. I have no idea what they are going to ask or anything and I struggle with interviews anyway.
Has anyone gone through this recently and can give me some advice on the format of the interviews, all I know up to now is that it is 4-5 hrs, I'm assuming there will be group tasks and then an individual part too??
TIA

Just revise the important parts of what they are looking for. When I was interviewed they asked me what papers I read, what news programmes I watched etc (journalism course) ... then they asked if I had any Q's.

Ask them what the success rate of the course is, what way the modules will be laid out, if it is a full time course will it mean 5 days a week or 3 days etc.. just the type of things you will want to know.

They may ask you why you want to do the course etc.

Good Luck xo

Best get my thinking cap on then Thanks for the questions to ask them, I hadn't thought about me asking questions, now you can see how my brain doesn't cope with interviews lol. They are sending me some information but whether that is just the location etc or if it will tell me a bit more I don't know.

Where is your interview?

I had three Uni nursing interviews, They asked me:
How I had prepared myself for University/Academia
What qualities I feel I could bring to nursing
asked me if I was aware of any current issues in Nursing
And gave me a few scenarios to say how I would deal with each situation (ie- aggressive patients etc)

They generally last about 15 mins, and they really want to see how well you have researched the role of a nurse. have a look at Nursing standard online for some current nursing issues.

At the end of the interview they ask if you have any questions
I aksed;
What made you decide to become a nurse (they really liked this one! think because they got to talk about themselves!)
and
Obviously at times as student nurses we are going to experiencing distressing situations, does the university have a counselling type service for us to allow us to reflect and talk about the experiences?
and
Is there anything that you would recommend that I read up on prior to starting the course? (this makes it look as if you feel confident enough to be offered a place)

Good luck!
