Early morning Poos + loose poos = big potty training issues in 3 yr old! Can bowels be trained?

Hi
Have just posted on development but think i should be here. Have just read with interest and relief the threads on 3-4 yrs who won't poo on the toilet and was wondering whether anyone has experienced this problem......

My 3yr has been doing wees on toilet and potty for 3-4 months now but does poos only in her pants and on the toilet. However she is not a 'holder' i.e. she will poo at least once and often twice a day. Part of the problem is though that she has early bowel movements to say the least, She wakes around 5.30 and poos immediately, needless to say we are asleep at this point (there are sleep issues too, surprise surprise!) so the opportunity to help her catch the poo is missed for the day and she is in nursery 3 days a week so we miss it then.

Does anyone know if it's possible to retrain her bowels to later in the day so we at least can have a crack at getting this sorted (no pun intended)...?? Or are we going to have to get up at 5.30 every day with her? Also her poos are quite loose so there is often little warning and never any straining (not even as a baby).

Please help!

We have a similar problem with our 3 year old and are also having difficulty with the whole potty training thing.

Does she have a lot of fruit and/or juice? Cutting back on these will help.

Not sure what to suggest about the early morning poo! Can you give her supper a bit earlier so she might poo afterwards? And maybe put her to bed a bit later so she wakes later?

Have you ever seen this? It's the Bristol Stool Form chart.

Type 4 is what's classed as a 'normal' poo.
Have you spoken to your gp or hv about this - if so, were they any help?

If poos are too loose it may be that your dd needs more fibre or 'bulking agents' in her diet. She obv drinks plenty of liquid so thats good.
does she have any other tummy troubles (pains, allergies etc?)

Thats a bit yuck CC! Shame it doesnt annotate the pics!
But if OP's DD she is doing runny poos then surely more fibre is the last thing she needs?!
