Helping 4yo be dry at night?

DS was 4 a few months ago. He's fully toilet trained during the day, and sleeps through from about 7.30pm until about 7am.

He still wears a nappy at night and it's always full in the morning (wet only).

I know it's largely hormonal, but is there anything I can or should be doing to help him get dry at night? I try not to give him too much to drink just before bed.

Check the ERIC website - hormones help but it can be trained!

He’s far too young yet to try, and please don’t limit drinks.

There’s a reason why you can’t refer to an enuresis clinic until the child is 8, and that’s because before that time it’s completely normal for some children to take longer to be dry at night.

You can’t train it, certainly not at that age at least. And restricting drinks is cruel. DS has just turned 4 and was dry at night before we even attempted potty training during the day. Drinks whatever he wants throughout the evening and also takes a drink to bed. It has no correlation with him being dry at night, because his body is still able to tell him if he needs to go in the night and wake him up. If the hormone isn’t there yet then it isn’t there.

He has a bottle of water with him overnight, I just mean that I offer him a drink when he comes home from nursery about 5pm and usually don't prompt him at 6pm or 6.30pm to see if he wants anything then.

Glad to hear there's nothing I can do!
