A party etiquette question ...

If your child had been invited to, and accepted, an invitation to another child's party, but couldn't go on the day, would you still

a) give card and present later
b) give a card
c) give neither

This is just a child from nursery - not a special friend. The parents had booked a venue with one fee for a maximum of 18 people, but as we cancelled on the day due to illness, would still have incurred some expense.
Many thanks.

I think if I had accepted and then couldn't go I would still give the card and present.

Saying that if someone did thjat to me I wouldn't expect it IYSWIM.

Do you have something to give them already?

Tbh I have had to do this as well due to illness and have still given a card and present. People have done this to me and haven't given card/present. I really dont mind.

Lots of people cant make parties due to illness/other engagements etc and it does not mean that you have to still give a present or a card. If you feel you would like to you could get your child to make a card and wrap a small present. It need not be expensive. Its what I normally do.

Thanks - we have a present box full of things, I think I'll try and find a smallish one then.
