I daft question maybe, but i habe a 2 year old going on he did some swim lessonss as a baby but was too expensive. Hoe do you actually take a toddler swimming / to a water park if they cannot swim. Armbands? Holding them? When do most children learn to swim?

Yes arm bands and holding. If you can find a pool with a graduated edge or a shallow end with steps or a baby pool then that's best as the toddler canine independently.

Lessons at the local pool from whenever they can follow instructions (about age 4 typically), the instructors are in the pool with them and the kids wear floats and use noodles.

Can move, not canine...

I hold mine/hold hands, our local pools are 1:1 supervision non swimmers under 7 or 8 so I'm always there (or DH if we take both of ours). We brought our own floats so take them with us. DD1 mostly clung to me until we started parent & toddler classes at 3 ish which were great and then she moved into proper swimming lessons at 4.

Pool that's very shallow so they can stand up and a pool noodle. Teach them to wrap it around their chest and under their arms. They use the noodles in swim lessons from stage 1. I found it useful to understand what the swim lessons covered when I started taking DD so I knew the basic stages of learning to swim. Initially it's all about confidence and getting water on their faces without being bothered.

some swim schools gove free trial or run adhoc family lessons. so you can attend to het some tips what to do with the toddler in water to guide them towards learning to swim.

We used to just hold her but as she got more into it, we got her a swim vest and she started kick paddling herself around. Its fun! We go every week.

The council pool we went to when my CD were little has a learning pool and toddlers an walk in from the shallow side. However, I wasn't trying to teach them swimming but just splash water.
