Baby bad colic

My 7 week old baby groans and strains loudly all night and a lot of the day - sometimes waking himself up. I feel terrible for him.
We have checked with friends who have recently had babies and this is not the normal degree of groans and noises you would expect.
Health visitor has suggested cutting out lactose in my diet as I'm breastfeeding but doctor doesn't seem to think it will help. Was also recommended that we see a cranial osteopath to try and help his digestion but am nervous as he's so little.
I'm at a loss what to do. If anyone has cut out lactose or tried cranial osteopathy with any success, please let me know. Grateful for any advice!

Hey, I was going to start a thread to ask about this but then saw these posts. So my baby is the exact same. He’s EBF but was straining to poo like he was constipated. When he does eventually poo, it’s normal. So he’s not constipated at all which also would be very rare in a EBF baby. Usually between 5 and 7 he’ll really grunt and strain for ages so I took him to the doctor. She said it was something called infant dyschezia also known as “grunting baby syndrome” it’s just where their digestive system is trying to settle down but it hasn’t quite synced up with the baby’s brain yet. It’s also something to do with the muscle reflex near the anus. (Google it so it makes more sense 🤣) but she said it’s really common and often diagnosed as colic. It passes after a few weeks once everything has settled and the baby has the hang of “pooing efficiently” doc also said baby isn’t in any pain or discomfort. Just grunts and gets frustrated because they’re bearing down and nothing happens. They may also cry as the recognise the extra air flow will help them. So many weird and wonderful things with babies you just have to power through! I was going to post a thread to see if anyone else had heard of it then saw these posts that mentioned the same symptoms.
