Chicken pox?

Hi!

My daughter (1 year) has has some spots around her bottom area develop yesterday (I thought due to teething) she was fine apart from that this morning but I've picked her up from nursery today and they said a rash started to develop in the afternoon over her stomach and now it's pretty mush everywhere except her face.

She seems fine in herself, still happy / eating & drinking as normal but I have given her some calpol and keeping an eye on her to see how she is doing tomorrow. If the same or worse I will make an appt with a doctor.

Would you say this is the start of chicken pox? Some area's are more spotty than rashy... also her temp is normal but was a little high yesterday.

X

Doesn't look like chicken pox to me, the spots are too small and close together. If it is pox they will be obvious by the morning.

That's what DS looked like when he had chicken pox. It will be more obvious over the next couple of days if it is the pox!

Doesn't look like chicken pox. Have any formed into blisters?

Doesn't look like chicken pox to me either.

DS had something similar once that covered his torso and appeared within a few hours which meant he was sent home from nursery. It wasn't chicken pox and disappeared after a few days, and he got chickenpox 3 years later.

It doesn't look like chicken pox to me. DS1 got a couple of post viral rashes looking like that when he was a baby.

Hi. Not really but it's only been like this since this afternoon... there are a few spots like this.... I suppose I won't know until the morning if it gets worse over night

This looks the same as my daughter's rash on day one of chicken pox. Then the next day or two turned into the blisters and scabbing

Thanks. I did think it might be viral or a reaction to something. Will see how she goes. Thank you!

Thank you. In recent months we have had emails from the nursery to say chicken pox has been going around so it crossed my mind but doesn't look like chicken pox from Google images 🤷🏽‍♀️ x

The last picture does look like cp

user171221 · 13/01/2023 09:50

Much worse this morning but don't think it looks like chicken pox. Waiting for a doctors appt. Baby still seems fine in herself

The latest picture says 100% chicken pox to me OP.

serenghetti2011 · 13/01/2023 09:54

I don’t think that’s chicken pox, I’ve seen many cases - my own kids and those I’ve looked after(nurse) it’s hard to tell via a pic at times though. Looks more like a raised viral rash but absolutely get it checked today op and hope your baby is ok

SheWoreYellow · 13/01/2023 09:57

Absolutely not chicken pox - chicken pox is blisters. On day one or might be mistaken for insect bites, but by day two it’s blistered. That looks viral to me.

dementedpixie · 13/01/2023 11:42

Looks nothing like chickenpox. Maybe some sort of viral rash.

winteralready · 13/01/2023 13:23

Scarlett fever or measles would be my guess, but I'm sure the GP will diagnose.

wakkasakka · 13/01/2023 13:30

That's 100% Not chicken pox

user171221 · 13/01/2023 16:29

Thank you all for your suggestions. Doc says can't rule out Scarlet fever because her glands are swollen too but spots don't look blotchy enough for Scarlett fever so possibly a viral infection (but to make another appointment if she gets worse)

She has been prescribed Penicillin- hopefully she will be better soon
