We are starting weaning our daughter in the next few weeks, so I'm just looking for recommendations of good highchairs.
Thank you 😊

The cheap Ikea one, it just can't be beaten. When dc were older, around 3 we got them a higher chair www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/ingolf-junior-chair-antique-stain-60353838/

I love the IKEA Antilop. Indestructible and the tray fits in the dishwasher.

It has the added benefit of being ubiquitous - you find them everywhere, cafés, pubs - so your child will often be sitting in something familiar.

Ikea with a My Cove baby insert is a favourite but I find the legs on the ikea one to be a pain in the ass!
I went for the maxi cosi one which we've loved - adjustable heights, plus it turns into a proper chair as they get older, and I don't worry it's going to topple backwards when my kids are climbing about in it which I do with the IKEA one!

Antilop or stokke tripp trapp. Steer clear of anything with lots of padding or added features like reclining, you want something simple and easy to clean. A chair that you can use at the dining table so your baby can join in family meals is good.
The antilop doesn't have a footrest, which is important for good posture and a good eating position, but you can buy them online to add on to the chair.

IKEA - defo with blow-up insert at first. Once they didn't need the insert in our home IKEA high chair we used in when out and about in places where they had wooden ones which can be tricky for smaller babies.

JamMakingWannaBe · 09/01/2023 20:55

I found the legs of the IKEA one to be really wide so I often bumped into them and it wasn't easy to store. I'd go with a booster style seat on the dining chairs you have now. Plastic tray on the dining table for baby's food. Easy to take to friend's houses too.

dkedm15 · 09/01/2023 20:56

We've got the maxi cosi milna - lots of different seat combinations and will last a few years apparently. We've had it for 3 months and would recommend x

catsnore · 09/01/2023 20:59

IKEA! Indestructible and can apparently be put in the dishwasher for a deep clean 😂

Tripp trapp all the way. Probably our most used items for both kids and means we all sit at the table together which is lovely.

I've known two toddlers be able to 'bounce' the ikea high chair across the floor by the time they were 14/15 months.

Name12343212 · 09/01/2023 21:03

Nomi, designed by the same guy as tripp trapp but more modern and great ideas

Bogglebrain · 09/01/2023 21:04

Definitely the IKEA one and I tried a few beforehand.

Hohofortherobbers · 09/01/2023 21:05

We had a mother are mi hi, loved it. You can probably get them second hand now mc has closed

Misty999 · 09/01/2023 21:05

Smiths toys similar to the IKEA just white plastic wipe clean with a removable tray

LadyGaGasPokerFace · 09/01/2023 21:06

I’ve come on to say that even though my dds are teens we had the antelop high chair from Ikea. If it got really mucky it ended up in the dishwasher.

bluesky45 · 09/01/2023 21:08

We had the IKEA one and it was great. My parents had an Asda one, really really similar to the IKEA but with a foot rest which is good for their posture and I believe was even cheaper than IKEA!

bloodywhitecat · 09/01/2023 21:14

Tripp Trapp style chair, the IKEA one was too big for my small dining room whereas the Tripp Trapp version took up no more room than a dining chair at the table, it also grew from full high chair to a regular dining chair as the little ones grew up.

nobodygirl2023 · 09/01/2023 21:21

IKEA - cheap & easy to clean.

I have a Stokke Clikk which I love. It does pretty much the same for a good bit more cash, but looks good in my kitchen 🤣

Chewbecca · 09/01/2023 21:42

Tripp Trapp was bought for my youngest son 19 years ago and is now being used by a 2nd grandchild. It’s been used consistently throughout the time, adjusting according to who is youngest at the time & was a great purchase.

MaverickGooseGoose · 09/01/2023 22:35

Trip trapp. We still use them
Every day and the kids are 12, I use one when I am wfh.
