8 week vaccinations at 10 weeks? Should I be worried?

Hi,

my DD is 8 weeks and 1 day.

I received a letter a couple of weeks ago regarding my dd 8 week vaccinations, they mentioned that they’re accepting appointments from the 9th jan, so I rang them today and the next they can do is the 23rd, I hastily accepted assuming it’s okay because they would have stated otherwise but now I'm overthinking. She also hasn’t received an invitation for her 6-8 week GP check up, so now I’m waiting for a letter for that, is this normal (considering it’s just been the Christmas period too) or should I be concerned?

Thank you

Also, it’s a pretty small GP so I believe they only have one nurse to doing the vaccinations and she may have been on her holidays and may be booked up.

It's absolutely fine. 8 weeks is the minimum age. Just remember the 12 and 16 week ones will need to be delayed by a similar amount - there needs to be 4 weeks minimum between them.

Thank you so much for your response, I feel like my mind is at rest now!

My 14 week old only just had her 12 week injections because of Christmas and staff sickness. It’s fine, as pp said, it’s minimum age.

most but perhaps not all GPs do the 6-8 week check at the same time as the vaccination, just call and ask! I had to make the appointments I wasn’t sent any appointments!

congrats on your little one

I only got the letters for vaccinations. My baby had vaccines later as well, at 9, 15 and 19 weeks as I couldn't book it differently. They only said there has to be 4 weeks minimum between them. Had the check up with doctor at the time of first vaccines.

Of course she will be okay, some children never get vaccinated (nothing wrong with this) and they are absolutely fine

my son is 16 months old and he’s only just had his 1 year jabs. Aside from the sore arms and legs, he hasn’t combusted because he was a few months late.

Absolutely fine. We had ours late due to the covid backlog. Similar sort of age to yours. A friend's baby had hers months late as she was ill.

It’s a minimum age so she will be fine. You could ask about the 6/8 week check for her and for you if you haven’t received a letter. My youngest DS had his 6/8 week check done at the same time as his vaccinations so an appointment with the nurse straight after the appointment with the doctor, they may have done something like that. I had mine on a separate date.

It won't matter. Just be aware too the first rotavirus (usually given at eight weeks) has to be given before 15 weeks.
Practice nurse.
