Shaken syndrome

I have a family member that likes to play rough with their toddler son. Yesterday they playfully shook my son's shoulders (1 and a half years old), it was quite rough so his head went back and forth for a few seconds. He was smiling and then looked a little worried towards the end. By the time I wanted to stop her she stopped. Do you think he could have gotten shaken syndrome? I am really worried. He's been behaving normally. Thanks

Why do they do this???? Don’t let them ‘play rough’ with a small child. It’s all sorts of wrong.

if your child is ok now it’s probably fine but don’t let this happen again. Keep this person away from children!

Just tell them they're too rough when it's happening. I think I'd your toddler was enjoying it though , they'll be fine. Kids like rough play, gets their adrenaline going and if they don't they cry or shout no.

I am not qualified to say whether one short episode can do anything serious but you need to tell that person clearly that what they are doing is dangerous and if they ever do it again to your child you will class it as assault. I'd be bloody furious.

What an absolute twat.
