Are second lot of vaccines as bad as the first?

I'm a single mum by myself, my ds is 9 weeks old and he had his 8 week jabs on Tuesday. It's been so much worse than I was expecting, he's always been colicky but even so I feel like I've been run over 😵‍💫😵‍💫 he's been SO poorly. His temperature is through the roof, he's cried (with real tears) almost non-stop for 2 days, and he's hardly sleeping at all. His tummy hurts. He has diarrhoea and gets dehydrated. He squeals constantly through feeds. He's so unhappy. Calpol has limited effects. I've always been militantly pro-vaccines but I'm questioning whether I can put him through this again. Is the second course as bad as the first?

No, the second lot aren't as bad but the third lor are a rerun of the first ones

I had the same experience and dreaded the second lot but they were absolutely fine. As pp said, the third lot were bad again. All necessary though. Hope your LO feels better soon.

First ones were bad. Second and third were fine, actually.

DS was miserable for 2 days after first set - high temperature, refusing to eat, either sleeping or crying and could only sleep in my arms.

Second set he was very tired and had long naps for 2 days after.

Was braced for the third set to be bad because they have menB again, but it was actually the best of the three. Barely noticed a difference in his behaviour, he was absolutely fine.

If you are worried, speak to the GP about whether they can be spaced out a bit more. But I was dreading the 2nd and 3rd sets and they were nowhere near as bad as I feared.

They're horrible, they make them feel horrible, you're questioning if you can put him through this again.

Also question what you could be putting him through if you didn't give him these vaccines.

Please, please, give him the vaccines.

If he's still got a fever this long after the jags, try to get through to your GP or 111 – he may have an illness, not just be reacting to the jags. I was told very plainly that if baby was still feverish after the standard three doses and needed more calpol, they needed a GP (and DD2 is only ten months old, so this is recent advice).

That said, if it is just the jags, the first lot were by far the worst for my two DC, second and third nowhere near as bad, even though the third has menB again.
