When do babies drop naps ?

My baby is 5.5 months and have for a while figured out her wake windows are 1.5 hrs sometimes less and no more than 2 hrs but it seems like she's still a newborn in some resorts where it's nap/bottle

At what age do are they awake more ? I remember my first having a morning nap around 10 and then a 2-4 nap in afternoon but can't remember when ?! It was 11 years ago

Just curious more than anything

I know every baby is different

My baba is 9 months and still has 3 naps x

Yep every baby is different

I think I remember little one being more awake after 6 months, bigger wake windows after 7/8 months and then had 2 naps until he turned 2. He still has 1 nap and he turns 3 in 2 weeks 😂

That 1 nap keeps me sane!

When they are toddlers or preschoolers.

Mine stopped having naps by 2 years old, there as another little girl she plays with is still having one early afternoon nap at 3.

(Mine will happily sit and draw/colour in for 45 minutes on her own though.)

Sorry I worded wrong rather than drop al together ( think my first was 2.5 ) but more so when they can stay awake longer

She has 5 naps from being awake to bed so even 3 would be better

So a bit longer then - yeah @rmummyofone don't get me wrong I like nap times I just feel it's hard work sometimes as it's always time for a nap or a bottle as she doesn't seem to have bottle then nap - remember my first doing this
It's like the bottle gives her a boost

Neither of mine have been great nappers (or sleepers for that matter!😂) but DD is better, she went to 2 naps about 6/7 months then very quickly dropped to one nap around 10 months, she's 11 months now and most days does one nap of 2/2.5 hours however it still massively depends on her night sleep, time she woke up in the morning, today she's had 2 and is still asleep now! We just go with the flow tbh

NuffSaidSam · 02/01/2023 15:47

I think 3 naps from around 4-6 months (morning, lunch and late afternoon)

Drop the late afternoon nap around 7-9 months.

Drop the morning nap around 12-15 months.

The lunchtime nap is the last to go and usually around 2.5 - 3 years.

With the obvious caveat that all children are different and whatever works for you is the right way to do it.

strawberrysummer19 · 02/01/2023 15:52

@NuffSaidSam my first was the opposite
She dropped the morning nap first and the afternoon nap was last ! I guess that shows how different they are

But I suppose I should count myself lucky she is good at napping?! X

Mine is 18m and still naps 2-3 times a day so they're all different.

Flowerfairy101 · 02/01/2023 15:54

Mine stopped napping entirely at 18 months Sad

Mine always needed quite a lot of naps at your baby's age too. I think he went to 3 naps about 7 months, then 2 naps around 9/10 months. He's coming up to 14 months and still having 2 naps now.

bluepencils1 · 03/01/2023 07:57

DS is 15 months and has 1 nap for around 2 hours, he's done this for a while now.

FlounderingFruitcake · 03/01/2023 07:59

3 naps at about 4 months, 2 at 6 months, 1 at 15 months for DC1 and 13 months for DC2. DC1 napped until over 3, DC2 dropped them completely before he was 2.
Obviously all babies are different in terms of sleep needs but it really depends on the length of naps too- for 3 and then 2 naps you need an after lunch nap of 1.5-2 hours, it won’t work if baby only does 45 minutes at a time (which is very common).
