Does toddler have eye conjunctivitis

I had viral conjunctivitis recently and was treated with eye drops. However my toddler just woke up today and he had a lot of sticky eye discharge around his eyes and couldn’t open them I cleaned them for him and he’s fine now.
could he have what I had? Do I need to get him to be seen by gp or I could asked the pharmacist?

The pharmacist will help you.

Agree with the pp also would suggest using cooled boiled water and a clean cloth (not cotton wool) to clear the gunk away

Thanks guys spoke to pharmacist and they suggested optrex drops as he’s over 2. Now the mission begins to try and put it in his eyes 🤪🤪

Ah I can help with that (this is how the nurses taught my mum to do it to my sis and I and I was taught the same with dd) lie them on the floor or bed with their arms at their side with you kneeling over them (but not sitting on or putting any pressure on there chest) with your knees on either side of their arms so they are gently pinned which gives you 2 hands free to administer the drops. If they really wriggle you can rap them up in a blanket 1st. I know that this may sound harsh but it works really well and it's over and done with really fast so less trauma for all involved.
