More info sorry. My baby is nearly 8 week old and I keep fretting about her catching something being a winter baby. I go out of my mind sometimes :(

I think it's understandable to worry. My first got bronchiolitis when she was 3 months old and that was very stressful but luckily she was fine.

My second was born at the end of August and in the few months her sister was in nursery, her sister has had stomach bug, hand foot and mouth and a chest infection (along with numerous colds). And me and my husband have had tonsillitis and chest infections. So far, she hasn't picked these up, although has been a bit snotty and more congested overnight.

Hopefully you're little one will be okay, but try not to stop yourself from doing things and just keep good hand hygiene etc.

I think it's normal to worry but perhaps not if it's consuming your thoughts or affecting your behaviour, for example
you aren't mixing with people or going out.

If you're going out of your mind with worry, I think it's worth speaking to the HV and GP about PND or PPA to be honest.

There are more people unwell this time of year so yes you need to be aware of mixing but sensibly. Now also seems worse than ever for winter viruses and new strains.

If you have children around they are the ones carrying the worst germs so maybe limit childrens visits to baby and don't visit many children.

If it is getting too much or you are not going out I agree with pp there's a possibility of pnd, are you ftm as that would also explain.

Thanks all. I'm not mixing as much as usual. I'm a 2nd time mum. I wasnt worried at all with my first but I guess because he was a summer baby plus theres so many more nasty viruses now it seems and sometimes the more you know the more you worry. It's hard too as I dont want my 4 year old to be kept inside and not do fun things all because I'm worried for my baby catching something but at the same time I know how nasty things can be for babies. Hard to know what to do for the best.
