I've heard powdered talc isn't safe. Is this the case with liquid talc as well?

Just don't use talc and you don't need to worry either way. It's really not necessary.

What @pzyck said, there's really no need for talc. If baby has a nappy rash it's cream you need not talc.

Ok thanks folks. First time mum, apologies if it was a silly question!

Any tips on getting lo's neck creases really dry? He hates getting fired after bath. I do dry it completely but it still feels tacky ifykwim? 😂 because it's never being aired. I noticed a bit of redness today and panicked a little

Liquid talc is fine. The powder is a problem because of breathing in the particles.

No talc is ok….liquid or powder. That is because talc naturally occurs with asbestos. So when talc is mined, it always is contaminated with asbestos. It doesn’t matter if it is liquid, because it’s not just breathing in asbestos that causes cancer, but absorption through the skin.

You should be able to buy baby powder that is corn starch based and talc free.

This isn’t just an issue with baby powder, but also cosmetics. Do not buy any powders with talc. I recently checked a well known brand R— powder foundation compact and was shocked to see the first ingredient was talc.

Look for talc-free cornstarch baby powder

You can literally just use cornflour actually. Super low cost and works brilliantly. Finding a useful container to distribute it from is another matter.....side eye to all the white marks on my carpet
