So earlier on I was browsing through social media as you do and came across a story about a toddler (17 month old) who tragically died from swallowing a button battery. To my horror I had no idea button battery’s were that deadly! The story was basically a warning to all parents with young kids/babies to make sure they weren’t accessible to them. I immediately ran around the house frantically trying to find any toys and ANYTHING with these batteries in and made sure they were secured. There actually wasn’t that much tbh, just loads of the AA and triple A ones. But yeah, then I remembered I bought a few packets of these button batteries a while back to put into these fake tea light candles I bought from Amazon which then made me remember I need to actually bin those candles because they don’t even work anymore so yeah I found the batteries and saw that they were just ripped open from the packet so maybe I should take them all out those packets (there were like 5 packs, cardboard with a plastic covering) and put them all together in one small ziplock bag. So as I was doing this I seriously don’t know whether it was coz I was so nervous or what but I literally dropped the whole bag and whoosh they splattered everywhere! I literally screamed Noooooo! And out of all the places to drop them they went all over the play kitchen. My 9 month old was napping upstairs and my 3 year old and my husband were out. I frantically got on my hands and knees and literally cried my eyes out as I was picking them all up. I cleared everything from the play kitchen and literally turned the whole place upside down to make sure I didn’t miss any. So when my husband returned home with my son I immediately told him what happened which we then both just like how they did in ‘Honey I shrunk the kids’ on all fours with our phone torches on the floor scoping out the carpet which btw yes is shaggy style 😩 So anyway we waited for my daughter to wake up then I vacuumed everywhere! So you would think ok, so now everything’s sorted.. ermmm no, not quite, not for me anyway. The what ifs have just consumed me. Seriously, what if we’ve missed one and she’s already eaten it?! Then I googled this and now I’m in a panic!
Should I call emergency services even though I don’t know if she has or not omg I’m going crazy they say if you think they have then don’t wait because it could be too late but the thing is I don’t know ?!!
