my mum had brought in some thomas tank engine pants last night just for when he started(we tried near xmas when he showed interest but didnt work out)he woke up this morning saw the pants and wanted a pair on!he was being so so careful not towee in them!we were on potty every 2 minutes!he did end up having 11 accidents but 3 wees in potty!i gave him basket of toys to play with while he sat so hed sit bit longer than the 20 seconds he was doing before!and for each wee in potty he had star on chart and sticker!he was so good!just hope hes still wanting to do it tomorrow-hes suppose to be going to cm for 2 hours but i think i'll keep him at home as im not sure it would be fair on them if he wants to wee every 10 minutes or if he wont wee as too exciting.wish me luck for tomorrow!

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!! Definitely a good sign when they want to wear pants!

BigBadMouse · 03/02/2008 20:59

good luck

I think 11 accidents but 3 wees in the potty is quite a good first day. It's really nice when they decide to do it themselves I think.

Nemoandthefishes · 03/02/2008 21:04

positive vibes for less accidents.

Moljam - I have a terrible memory (possibly just as well sometimes ). Yeah I'm sure we discussed me meeting you in Launceston with it. I'm currently using it to put people off buying them and boots all in ones at my nappy demos...I didn't think they were that bad . I'm sure if it was a pretty colour then the new mums would welcome it with open arms...but it is white .

I'm no expert om potty training (DD1 sort of did it herself) but DD1 went to the potty 32 times on her first day usually with no result and had 3 accidents. The next day she went about 15 times and 1 accident. She was obviously ready and improved surprisingly quickly each day - she was dry within a few days (day and night). I would say the fact he is keen and managed 3 wees in the potty is a good start. He's not that old is he? So much else going on in young boys mind that I think 3 successes on first day is fab.

I'm fine by the way - had short-lived 'very black patch' (IYSWIM) and changed name for some reason . I'm impressed you realised who I was

moljam · 03/02/2008 21:29

i looked on your profile and recognised the pics!im nosey!
i dont know why everyone hates kushies-i started with them and terries when ds was 5 weeks old.dh loved the kushies!but i tried out lots of others too and then went back to kushies-but ds does have some days in disposables alot now as he has cows milk intolerance and although i washed runny poo nappies for however many months i gave up!dh now uses disposables- i use cloth!are you a nappy advisor now?i looked into it with cornish real nappy project but they didnt seem too impressed with the times i could do(with 2 older ones at school).we could still have meet up anyway!
i think i blocked out all memory of potty training dd and ds1!i cant remember a thing!

i hope all black patch is now sparkly rainbow colours and that your ok!sorry i probably shouldnt have said your name if bad thing and name change-sorry.

Well I used kushies for DD2 for ages and thought they were really good, they only started leaking when she was right at the top end of the weight range.

I've been with the CRNP for a little while now. Seem to spend a lot of time 'volunteering'though. I'm also doing a fair bit of independant stuff now as CRNP having to cut down on what they will cover costs for just at the moment - there are loads of people who are keen to try cloth but don't feel comfortable asking questions in a 'group' session so I see them privately for free (coz I'm such a good egg )

No sparkly rainbows yet but hey (sort of used to it tbh ) ...I meant to name change ages ago as I thought prev name up on the spot and didn't much like it....no probs with you mentioning last name - although there might be a few on here who were sort of hoping I'd gone

moljam · 03/02/2008 21:53

oh no!why what did you do?!sure people wouldnt hope that!

BigBadMouse · 03/02/2008 22:03

...probably nothing actually. Embarrassingly I get large blank patches where I have had 'bad patches' so I don't remember much. I was very sleep deprived though and goodness knows that's when I talk a lot of rubbish

moljam · 04/02/2008 10:42

no not insane-blank patches are probably better than bad patches?

ds is doing well today-4 wees on potty,5 in pants-is that well or no?2 was at grannys,i had to take older dc to school but we took potty and everything.he wants potty upstairs,i suppose we all go up to loo but ive had to convince him to use it downstairs as im exhausted running up and down and half time he just wants to go look out the window.no poos yet!

BigBadMouse · 04/02/2008 15:54

sounds like progress to me

DD2 insisted on spending an hour sitting on the potty yesterday - she's never been that stationary in her life! She's still very young though and I'm not pushing her but she wants to be like her big sister and wear pants

moljam · 04/02/2008 22:05

sounds great!how did you manage that?gaffa tape?!i have a big basket of toys that he can only play with on potty(probably wrong but who cares!)and i give him things that he doesnt usually hold like make up brush-keeps him still
wellllll today started great then after about 4 he seemed to give up(maybe as after 3 he had to share my attention)but he did 9 wees in pants,4 in potty.it felt more like on right track today?!till 4ish anyway!he loves the stickers and star chart.at night time i had to try to get him to wear nappy which he didnt want at first but did for hour then pooed in it so sorted him out,put pants on him thinking end of nap and he slept on my lap for hour and didnt even wee on me!!!i kept him home from cm today but tomorrow i really need to go into town.maybe 40 minutes maximum but doubt its good idea.i have atleast 2 shops i know i can whip potty out in but think maybe its not fair on him dunno!but then dont want to put nappy on him ether.what do you think?

BigBadMouse · 04/02/2008 23:02

arghhh...you're asking the worng person tbh. With DD1 I remember on day two being invited to a friends for the day. I was reluctant to go as I wanted DD in familiar surroundings etc but I went anyway () and she was fine. She did have an 'accident' but it didn't seem to set her progress back

I used Bmabino Mio training pants though so if she had an accident when out and about we didn't have to deal with it immediately as they held it in- do you think your DS would wear something like that though?

I'd say send him to the CM, it might be a while before he gets the hang of it and you don't want to be housebound forever I guess.

moljam · 04/02/2008 23:08

he might wear them.i'll have look.just realse someone did suggest booster pad in pants-might work!might try that to go shopping tomorrow and just run!

OP posts:
moljam · 05/02/2008 10:11

actually was it you?

we went shopping, ran!and got it done in 30 minutes.i put washable changing mat and buggy liner under him but just pants and he said he needed a wee but waited till we got home!

OP posts:
BigBadMouse · 05/02/2008 12:39

Nope it wasn't me, sounds like a good idea though.

Very impressed with your DS on your shopping trip. My suggestion (having just read Meet-up thread) is next time, if he looks desperate and can't hold on, take him into the toy shop. Would probbaly give the owner a coronary

moljam · 05/02/2008 13:14

great idea!i'll try that!hes been on potty each time today!none in pants!

OP posts:
BigBadMouse · 05/02/2008 16:50

Ooooh that sounds good. He's obviously keen bless him...better get down to that toy shop before he stops having accidents

at my spelling of probably in last post -it is my typing skills that are lacking... honest...I can spell

moljam · 06/02/2008 10:04

after dd and ds1 came out of school he had 4 accidents-i suppose he was too busy!but last night we went to local church for pancakes(im worlds worst cook i cant even do pancakes)and he was fine the whole time there-about 2 hours!
today hes had 2 accidents already-so we'll see what rest of day brings.

my spelling is always awful-you wouldnt believe i did a level english!
