Three days of pouring rain

We have exhausted soft play and been to a trampolining place. The park is lethal - equipment soaked and slippery. Ds not 100% and wants to be carried on walks anyway. Ear infection so no swimming.

Is there anything I’m missing to keep two year old entertained and not destroying the house all day?

Ohhh it’s hard!!! I know the feeling! Still, we get outside every day, whatever the weather. Even if it’s for 10-15 minutes.

  • quick walk around the block
  • longer walk in the woods (sheltered)
  • windy walk by the sea if that’s nearby

if you really don’t want to go outside, even a trip to the tesco cafe (or somewhere nicer😅) is an adventure for a little one.

afterwards have a nice bath/shower to warm up and watch a film under a blanket.

We couldn’t be further from the sea if we tried, unfortunately!

I agree getting out is important, but sometimes - occasionally - it really is not practical when it is heavy rain (not just a drizzle) and when children aren’t 100%. My toddler would be very stalwart normally but carrying him round a park in the tipping rain isn’t filling me with joy I must admit!

A long bath? My DD will spend ages in the bath if allowed and it seems to keep her quite occupied. Other than that, I've been alternating screens with doing a specific activity eg. make Christmas cards, play with play dough, then watch some telly so I can have a break. We've also just walked to the corner shop to get out and it doesn't feel like it matters so much if you get soaked. Also done quite a bit of letting her trash the house and tidying up after. Have you made piles of cushions into an obstacle course or done dancing? Things to get a bit of physical activity inside

Plan a whole day round a trip to the supermarket

it’s fucking awful OP with 2yr olds- either side of that age is just about manageable.
You might find soft play is back on the list?
library/ children’s centres/ any children’s cafes near you?

At that age I used to do a mix of:

Library
Ikea - lots of fun rooms to explore
Friend's house with same age DC
Cbeebies

I miss those days even though it was really hard!
