Where would you pick to go, or avoid, from experience?

Peppa Pig World
Chessington
Lego Land
(Any other recommendations welcome!)

We went to CBeebies Land & LOVED it but now looking to try somewhere new.. all experiences, the good the bad & the ugly, welcome!

How old is your child? Peppa pig is by far my favourite with my 3 year old. They don't have a hotel on site though you have to stay nearby. If you book with them though you do get a second days entry to the park included.

I hated Chessington from that list. Too packed close together, ugly park, crowded. Horrid.

I am not a Theme park lover.....but have kids so do go. I enjoyed Paultons Park and it has got much bigger since we went. Our kids were really small and we only did Peppa World and a few more rides in a day - could easily have spent 2 days there. (Although with the age the kids were they might not have got on many more rides.....due to height etc)

Lego land is good. We have been a few times.....although only when we got it really cheap with vouchers. The hotel is right near the park

Mine loved Twin Lakes - as there was lots of space, lots of climbing areas, some zip wires, rowing boats, birds of prey and a farm, some rides - smaller not mega rides, and a massive indoor play area

We've also spent many days at Gullivers in MK - but that's because it's local.

I enjoyed Alton towers recently. Not been for years and was pleasantly surprised :)

We stayed at the legoland hotel in Nov and it was one of the most fun trips we've had. My 2yo loved the themed hotel so much so would highly recommend that.

In terms of the parks itself, I've been to all 3 parks this year and we've loved all. When we went to Paultons Park my daughter wasn't so into peppa pig so whilst she enjoyed it, didn't get as much out of it as she would now.
She loves the gruffalo and still talks about the gruffalo ride we went on in early Nov at Chessington, but there wasn't as much for her to go on as Paulton's so maybe check the height restrictions. Chessington is close by us though so we will definitely be one we go to many times.

Again she absolutely loved legoland but there'd be more for her to go on once she's over 90cm (she was about 85cm when we went, although also didn't have to pay for her so we didn't mind). I definitely will be going back to legoland next year as we had such a fab time.

Maybe check out some of the rides and think about what your child is into? Plus the cost and travel? I've used tesco vouchers for tickets at Chessington before to save money.

We do theme parks often with young children DD is now 2 and DSS is 8. Paltons Park (peppa pig world) is our favourite as the toddler can do the peppa rides and her big brother can do all the other rides know the Park, plus it's very well done. Then thomas land at drayton manor, but we tend to do that at Christmas and have done since DSS was aged 3.
Didn't really like alton towers, too much walking and not a lot of rides for DD.

Right now I'm at the Legoland hotel in Denmark, we love it.

Hohofortherobbers · 29/12/2022 21:16

We stayed at gullivers land Milton Keynes, accommodation was brilliant, little beach house, but there were other themed places like camper vans, jcb cabins etc. 2 days park access, splash land tickets and Dino Park included, it was a total bargain. Ideal for primary kids, up to approx age 8 or 9 in my opinion.

BeyondMyWits · 29/12/2022 21:20

The Drayton Manor Park Hotel is the nicest Hotel at any theme park in our opinion. The theme park has Thomas the tank engine land and a little zoo as well as loads of rides.

icefishing · 29/12/2022 21:25

My dc really loved Drayton Manor but they were into Thomas the Tank engine at the time.
They enjoyed the themed rooms in the hotel and the nighttime reading

Would you go abroad? Efteling in The Netherlands is worth the trip (it’s very easy to get to from Calais), the accommodation is very high quality. Nothing in the U.K. even comes close, although we have enjoyed days in Legoland and Paulton’s is good for young children. I hated Chessington, it was dirty and poorly run when we went about 10 years ago.
