Age when children no longer believe in Santa

My son is 6 and I am really enjoying this age and the magic of Santa and Christmas and it got me wondering how many more years do we have before he no longer believes.

What age was your child when they no longer believed in Santa?

How did this transition happen to your child and what was their reaction when they found out?

My nieces stopped believe it at 6, my daughter is 9 and I don't think she belie eves in it, she is just pretending

About 8, unless someone at school spills the beans. My son started wondering why it seemed like Santa must shop at Tesco too, then he thought about it and eventually asked if I was, in fact, Santa.
My daughter still wanted believe but at about 8 she said 'tell me the truth: does Santa exist'? She was devastated- more that she thought she was silly to still believe such things and realising that a bit of her innocence was gone forever.

I think I was 12 when I finally didn't believe, but I'm unsure if I was in denial for a couple of years before. It was a gradual realisation rather than anyone telling me. I had older siblings and they didn't ruin it for me.

My now 10 year old asked directly last year so we told him, but I suspect he'd known for a year or two by then.
7 year old seems to still believe but said the Santa we visited couldn't be the real one as the elves were too human, and had expressed a few more doubts. I suspect this was the last year she will.

My oldest is 5 and I'm 99% sure he doesn't really believe... he's good at pretending though!! He's still obsessed with Christmas, and the pretending is just like any other make believe game. So I wouldn't worry about the magic ending... I don't ever remember believing and Christmas has always been my favourite time and best memories.

Mine marched home from Reception aged four and announced Santa was just your parents, his friend said so. Which was a bit earlier than we had expected it to happen! The previous year he hadn’t really understood what was going on, so we had no real Magic Of Christmas moment.

He seems to have forgotten that this year, or is at least playing along.

If I remember rightly, my three were 9, 10 and 11 for the youngest.
