Wake windows at 1 y/o

DS is 1 next week! And something I just want to see is if wake windows differ from baby to baby?

since he started nursery (at 9mo) he has caught ALL sorts bless him so lots of weeks we’d have days where he was so sleepy so wake windows were shorter than usual

Now I’d say about 3-4 hours? 3.5 hours he gets really tired

the nursery routine is nap at 11.30 and then he usually naps 2 hours and when we get him we keep him up till bed time so he does a 5-6 hour wake window on nursery days

But I was just wondering as the other week it was more 2-3 hours he was getting tired ! Does it just differ?

did your babies follow the rules of wake windows ???

Mine dropped his morning nap at age 1. It was a tough transition for a few days! 5.5 hours was his absolute limit, so he had a very early lunch for a short while

I'm afraid it varies quite a lot. Both of mine have had much longer wake windows than they are 'supposed to', have done from newborn. DD2 has just turned 10 months and her wake window is 4-6 hours, although the buggy can sometimes shorten it (usually when I don't want it to!).

How does he cope with the 5-6 hour window on nursery days? If it's tricky, can you squeeze in a catnap (just like 15 minutes) to keep him going to bedtime? Or if he's still solidly on two naps at home, I thought most nurseries would still follow baby's individual sleep pattern at this age?

DS is 14 months and wakes around 7:30 (slightly earlier if it's a working day and I need to wake him up to leave) and then goes down for a 2-2.5 hour nap around 10:30. It's been taking him longer to get to sleep this week though for his nap so I'm wondering if he's wanting to push it back a bit. When he wakes at lunch time he is then awake until around 7 when he goes down for the night. My mum looks after him 2 days while I'm at work and sticks to this routine but when he is with the childminder it really varies as they're out and about a lot.

He does struggle near the end of the nursery day! When we get him I’d say the last half an hour to bed time is hard

i could do a cat nap but the time we get him as soon as he’s in he’s stimulated and when I eventually get him down it would be near 6pm!

I mean I guess some have longer some have shorter! Quite a few babies I’ve heard up until 18m have 2 naps so if he needs a big nap and a cat nap I’ll continue it until he’s ready for those 3 days a week he isn’t in nursery (yes we have to pay 4 days nursery lol)

Nursery are willing to but DS is VERY very curious so he refuses to nap an extra time in their environment. They’ve tried so much bless but because he’s there he just wants to stay awake and play with everyone :) which is nice - I guess at home I’m boring aha !

Of course wake windows differ from baby to baby. They aren’t all the same and it isn’t one size fits all

just follow your babies lead. They’re tired when they’re tired not when Google says they should be tired
