Am I bad mum?

DS is 1 next week and I’ve had 3 days of annual leave this week and we still sent him to nursery (we pay)

it has been nice catching up on some sleep (he’s got a cold and teething so our nights have been horrendous, I haven’t had a straight 2 hours sleep in weeks) and tidying up

but I feel so guilty. My mum and sister have assured me this is good I’m getting to rest a bit after bad nights as that’s what he needs - a rested mum who has looked after herself. But I still feel guilty

someone please reassure me I’m not a bad mum?? He loves nursery and is so happy there at such a young age he’s quite social and has settled in so well so I haven’t worried about that

No, nothing wrong with doing that and you will enjoy Christmas much more well rested.

No he's fine rest easy. You're a good mum

It is absolutely fine to keep him in his routine if it suits you too. You are a person and you matter just as much as he does.

I've done exactly the same OP. 2 days AL this week and I got loads of jobs done, had a long bath and might do some batch cooking later!

Don't feel guilty for spending some time on yourself!

Nursery has been lots of fun this week, your DC will probably be having a lovely time xx

Eh? I hope this is lighthearted because otherwise it’s mental. He’s following his normal routine, at his regular nursery, which he loves. If you think about what makes actually someone a bad parent then obviously this isn’t even same ballpark.

Maybe someone should call social services because we just got back from holiday and we used the kids club… every day… ssshhhh 😂

I always still send DS to nursery at least 2 out of 3 days when I'm on leave! Don't worry about it, you need a break too. Having a one year old is intense.

Harrysmummy246 · 22/12/2022 16:37

Absolutely not. My work was cancelled yesterday (self employed, client said other gardener had done everything, not true but that's a separate thing). DS was already at his grandparents from Tues and sleeping over.

I went about half hour earlier to collect him but enjoyed the peace and got some jobs done before that.

When else would you get this chance to relax? My LO enjoys nursery so much I actually think it would be unfair to keep him home with me and deny him of it if it's a usual day for him to go in!
